Surround Air XJ-3800 Intelli-Pro Air Purifier Review

single_review

One of the best air purifiers I have found in its price range is the Surround Air XJ-3800. In this review I’ll tell you why I think this a great purifier especially for allergy sufferers. As well as pointing out a couple of things I think could still do with improvement.

Overall I have to say I am highly impressed with this air purifier. If you are suffering from allergies then you will want to take a close look at this model. In the past I found that while many air purifiers will clean the air of pollutants they still tend to leave a lot of odors and allergens still floating about.

Many air purifiers just don’t seem equipped to handle pets and all the hair and smell that come with them. The XJ-3800 has both an electrostatic filter and an ionic one and it seems to do the trick. The company claims a 99.7% collection rate and I have to agree it is highly effective. If you have found general purpose air purifiers to be ineffective in combating allergens I would give this air purifier a try.

Another thing I like about the air purifier is the large coverage it gives. A lot of domestic air purifiers are only effective over a very small range. And stepping up to more commercial models can be a big leap in price. I like the fact that this air purifier can cover 1,200 square feet. That’s pretty good especially at this price range.

One thing that bugs me about a lot of air purifiers is the noise. This air purifier is much quieter. If you keep it at lower settings you will definitely be able to sleep while it is on. If you set it on high you may start to notice some noise however. You shouldn’t really need to set at high all the time however and so this shouldn’t be a problem for most people.

Probably one of the best things about this air purifier is the intelli-pro technology that the air purifier is equipped with. This gives you instant feedback about how the air purifier is performing. It also tells you want type of air particles are floating around your house. This can be great if you suffer from allergies because it will tell you if there is any pollen in the air and the purifier self adjusts to deal with it.

I had a couple of little niggles with this air purifier. The buttons on the purifier look a little like cheap plastic. This doesn’t ruin the over all aesthetic of the air purifier but I still think there is room for improvement there. The other thing I wish they would change is that the blue light is always on. The blue light tells you the UV light is working. This can be a bit of pain if you don’t like having any light on in your room. This could be easily covered up with a piece of masking tape, but it really is up to you how much something like that bothers you.

So overall a fantastic looking air purifier that really does the job it is designed for. At this price range it would be difficult to find an air purifier that does a better job of picking up all the particles that set off allergies.
