Two key things stand out immediately for us about the Whirlpool Whispure 450. It can clean up to 500 square feet and it’s user feedback is one of the best we’ve seen. So overall it has great features, can clean huge areas and does it at a good price. Let’s take a closer look.

The HEPA filter can trap any particles larger than .3 microns and it operates at an efficiency of 99.97% (if you have allergies then you know just how useful this is). The pre-filter is made from charcoal which collects the larger particles in the air such as hair, dust and lint and this prevents the main section of the HEPA filter from working too hard.

It also reduces odors so the air smells fresher. It’s not going to get rid of a strong smell in your home but it does handle everyday smells and keep things fresher in general. Be sure to change the main filter on it at least once a year and the pre-filter every 3 months. To make sure you don’t forget, there are handy replacement indicator lights for both of them which is a nice reminder should you lead a busy life like most people do these days.

The controls are really well laid out and simple to understand and use. This unit is so effective that if your room is 500 square feet in size, the Whispure can clean out the air completely almost 5 times in one hour. Now, most HEPA filter-based air purifiers tend to be quite noisy due to the sheer amount of air they have to move through such fine filters. However most people remark how quiet this unit is and that is due to what Whirlpool call their Quiet Partner System. This allows you to run it at full blast and still be able to sleep with it on.

Since this purifier is designed to clean larger spaces, it is quite big so if space is at a severe premium for you then be sure to look at a few before you buy. This one however has nice handles in case you need to move it and the outlet vents are positioned in a smart way so you can place it right up against a wall to save space.
